Task
The Museum of Hunting Trophies made a request to create a mobile app aimed to organize exhibits and provide guests with detailed information about exhibits, trophies, and hunters. The information had to be added by augmented reality. We faced 4 challenges: • exhibits are visually indistinguishable; • indoor lighting intensity varies in different areas; • exhibits can periodically change their location; • the description texts of the exhibits were inconsistent.
Ideas and solutions
We used object recognition technology. The object recognition system finds objects in the real world from a number of photos taken from different angles. All photos are uploaded and managed in the administration panel we created. We achieved high level of recognition accuracy in low-light conditions and at different distances. The app design is based on typography and unique illustrations to diversify the user experience. We used service design techniques, paper prototyping, and testing of builds right in the museum. It allowed us to achieve outstanding recognition and user experience results
