Task
Ob'edinenie is a Moscow-based media platform and contemporary art gallery founded in 2018, aimed at showcasing upcoming Russian talents through a series of in-depth interviews, photography and short essays, providing a platform to an emerging community of artists, designers, architects and writers.
Ideas and solutions
To highlight the diversity of Moscow art community, we based the website’s structure on the concept of the moodboard. This concept is applied through the use of a tight modular grid system, designed to maximise the space provided to the images and the works of artists . Our goal was to develop a style that would not contradict with the work of the artist but rather highlight it. As the gallery provides space to a variety of artists with different styles, we developed a visual style that would fit and work coherently every artist’s page. This concept is used in combination with a set of vivid gradients that represent the indefinable emotional interaction between art and its viewer. In addition to the ‘moodboard’ homepage, the website has a ‘Journal’ section for the editorial content, an online gallery for the artists’ works, a ‘Selection’ section for Ob’edinenie’s collaborations with the local designers, and ‘Authors’ section where one could sort through artworks in a convenient way. Besides digital medium, the identity was applied to the merch collection, that included silk scarves and acrylic keychains, all with the core principle of presenting art as a ‘lifestyle’.
